Getting set up.

Everything you need to start Leviter, tune it to you, and stop it whenever you want.

Get started.

  1. Open Leviter. The Welcome window explains Camera, Accessibility and Microphone before you allow each one. Afterwards it lives in the menu bar as Leviter’s menu-bar icon.
  2. Choose Leviter’s menu-bar icon → Control Mouse.
  3. When macOS asks, allow Leviter in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
  4. Raise your hand where the camera can see it, and move.

Using an iPhone as the camera? Pick it in Leviter’s menu-bar icon → Camera. Keep it locked, still and close to the Mac, with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on and signed in to the same Apple Account.

Calibrate to your reach.

Choose Leviter’s menu-bar icon → Calibrate…, and a target appears in each corner of the screen. Move your hand toward it as far as feels comfortable and hold it there until the ring fills. There’s no need to stretch: the area is sized to your hand.

Keep your whole hand in view. Choose Recalibrate… whenever you move, for example from a desk to a couch. Each camera keeps its own calibration.

The gestures.

PointRaise your hand and the pointer follows.
PinchThumb to index finger clicks. Hold the pinch and move to drag.
Make a fistOpens the shortcut wheel around the pointer. Rest on an item until its ring fills, then open your hand to run it.
Thumb, index and little finger upOpens Connect. Say what you want, like “open Notes”, “click Sign In”, or “help” for more.

In a text box, click into it and speak to type (Settings → Listen in Text Boxes).

Stop at any time.

  • Press ⌃⌥⌘H.
  • Choose Leviter’s menu-bar icon → Control Mouse.
  • Move your mouse or trackpad, and it takes over.

Locking or sleeping your Mac also pauses tracking.

Settings worth knowing.

  • Lock onto Buttons: the pointer settles onto buttons, so small targets are easier to hit.
  • Sound Cues: a soft sound for clicks, drags, the wheel and Connect.
  • Listen in Text Boxes: clicking into a text box starts dictation.
  • Listen for “Connect”: say “Connect” to start a command without a gesture. Off by default; the microphone stays on while it’s on.
  • Open at Login: start Leviter with your Mac.

If something’s off.

  • The pointer doesn’t move: check that Control Mouse is on, that Camera and Accessibility are allowed, and that your whole hand is in view.
  • The camera can’t see your hand: sit a little further back, add light in front of you, or check the camera chosen in Leviter’s menu-bar icon → Camera.
  • Gestures feel off: choose Recalibrate… for your current camera and seat.
  • Connect doesn’t respond: check Microphone access and the input device in System Settings → Sound.

Leviter’s menu-bar icon → Help & Testing → Run Self-Test… checks clicks, keys, scrolling and typing on your Mac. If something goes wrong, Flag the Last 30 Seconds (⌃⌥⌘F) saves your hand’s movement from just before, as joint positions only.

Remove Leviter.

  1. Turn off Open at Login if you turned it on.
  2. Choose Leviter’s menu-bar icon → Quit Leviter.
  3. Drag Leviter from Applications to the Trash.
  4. Remove it from Camera, Microphone and Accessibility in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

Your settings and any recordings stay in Leviter’s folder in your Library. Help & Testing → Open Config Folder shows it (open it before you quit); delete that folder to remove them.

Contact.

Write to support@leviter.app. Saying what you were doing helps, and Help & Testing → Flag the Last 30 Seconds (⌃⌥⌘F) right after a problem keeps what happened, on your Mac, for you to send if you choose.
